Are Females More Likely to Tear Their ACL's?

Yes, but this is not because of their gender. notch

The Shelbourne Knee Center's research shows that the size of the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) is the reason that some people are more likely to have an ACL tear than others.

Our research tells us that since the ACL is located inside the notch, the size of the notch determines ACL size. The smaller the notch is, the smaller the ACL is and the higher the chances are for an ACL tear.  A male with a small notch is just as likely to tear his ACL as a female with the same notch size.

Furthermore, it is thought that the female athletes do not return to activity as often as the male athletes...
