Data from 1982 through today

Research is a very important part of the Shelbourne Knee Center at Methodist Hospital's ability to provide "World-Class Care for Knees".

Our research data dates back to 1982 and continues to this day with those same patients as well as the patients who have come after them.

Primary research goal

Our number one goal is to provide the highest level of patient care and satisfaction. Research is the best way to see what is working and what isn't. We listen to what our patients have to say whether they are here for a visit or giving us information through physical testing and surveys. This information has helped us to improve what we do so that all of our patients can get back to their activities or sport in the quickest time possible...safely.

Dr Shelbourne, Dr Urch and our physical therapy staff share this information with other medical professionals through medical journals and conferences through articles and presentations.

Data collection

We collect data for research by survey, x-ray, physical examination and physical testing. All the information we gather is entered into a data base and is never deleted.

This information is looked at and analyzed regularly so that our treatment methods are as up to date as possible. We share the results of our studies through international, national and regional presentations and by publishing in medical journals.
